Identifying who to buy and sell in your redraft leagues

A lot of what I write is Dynasty-focused, but that's not all I am capable of. My choice to focus on Dynasty is simply because I love all aspects of it. Building a team, tracking rookies, and making trades put me in the shoes of a Major League GM, and truly love it!

At the same time, not all of my readers are Dynasty players, so I'm going to take some time today to highlight buys and sells for Redraft leagues to help navigate through an ever-changing fantasy world that's been ravaged by injuries.

BUYS

Corey Seager, SS, TEX

Seager was a player I wrote about in the 'Who's Not (Hot)' section of my recent Dynasty Notes article, and for good reason. Seager has struggled mightily this season, particularly in batting average, where he's down over 40 points from last season, and power, where his six homers put him on pace for 21, one year after he hit 30. On the surface, it looks like Seager is on the decline, but under the hood, he's been as good as ever. His batted-ball metrics are universally equal to, or better, than the past few seasons. His 14.5% barrel rate, 51.3% hard-hit rate, and 92.8 mph average exit velocity all rank inside the Top 11% of the league. His xBA (.293), xSLG (.535), and xWOBA (.387) all reflect the most glaring stat of all, a .270 BABIP, over 30 points below the league average. Essentially, Seager has been extremely unlucky. All of his contact numbers align with his career norms, his batted ball data is excellent, and he's actually hitting the ball in the air almost 10% less than last season, meaning that regression is on its way. The offense around Seager is starting to click, and he will soon, too! The inherent risk with Seager is a third (maybe more) IL stint this season. I'm still buying the dip on Seager and hoping to reap the benefits.
