Dynasty Buy/Sell-April 2025

Buy PCA and Triston Casas, but sell Brent Rooker? I'm not crazy, just opportunistic.

The idea behind this article is simple: identifying players to buy or sell in Dynasty. Buying a player is capitalizing on a player whose perceived value is very low but still a player you believe in. You can also buy players before a potential breakout or amid a breakout. But, use caution to avoid overpaying and losing the trade in the long run. Selling a player is most often getting the highest value possible based on current perception. Ideally, it's a player who recently broke out or has hype surrounding them, and the potential return is just too good to pass up. The other situation is where you've got a player you're unsure about, or their metrics show they're outperforming their skills. At that point, you're cashing in your chips and moving on. Then, there's a player like Kris Bryant, who is so obviously cooked that you can't see the point of rostering that player any longer.

**If you're still rostering Kris Bryant, it's OK to let go! You'll be fine, Cubs fans**

My favorite thing about playing Dynasty is that fantasy baseball is a 365-day battle every season. There isn't an offseason but a brief chance to re-assess your roster. You're looking to identify weaknesses in your MLB club and find prospects or future assets to continue building toward your next championship. That said, the first few months of the season represent a golden opportunity to capitalize on the early struggles, or successes, of players in an attempt to return the maximum value in a trade. Most of us know that a sample size of less than 75 at-bats is meaningless throughout a 162-game season, but you wouldn't believe the panic you can find. Here are some early buys and sells in Dynasty.

BUYS

Pete Crow-Armstrong, OF, CHC

I completely whiffed on PCA as a prospect, never expecting him to be an offensive force beyond stolen bases. I saw him struggle with velocity at times and then put together lackluster at-bats in others. PCA has made me look like a complete fool, and I'm fully supporting it! The 23-year-old defensive wizard is coming into his own as a Major Leaguer in 2025, showing a blend of power, speed, and improvements with contact. Crow-Armstrong is batting .258 with three homers and eight steals this season, with several notable gains in his profile. We knew PCA was an elite athlete roaming centerfield and showing a 97th percentile SprintSpeed. But now he's lifting the ball more, having cut his groundball rate by 8%, subsequently tapping into more power, especially with extra-base hits. The most telling gain has been his contact skills. His in-zone rate is up over 9%, with an increase of 7% overall. I also love the team context with the Cubs, who have outscored every other team by 20 runs this season. Consider PCA a top 125 overall dynasty asset with a good chance to reach the Top 100 by the end of the season.
